Brief History

Devru Construction was founded in 1995 by Kiruben Naidoo and his father, Runga Naidoo. Their first project involved constructing a retaining structure valued at R16 000. The staff compliment included two labourers and a single vehicle. Since then the group has accumulated a wealth of resources and expertise to make them one of the country’s leading engineering companies. After much perseverance during a time of political uncertainty, Devru Construction now employs well over 50 employees and has an annual turnover in excess of R60 million.

Transformation is the key reason for South Africa’s Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) policy. This has been implemented to integrate efforts, measure the impact of advancing levels of black businesses and the economy as a whole. A number of procedures have been put in place to ensure Devru Construction is a proud level one contributor with a BEE procurement of 135%. This score card was conducted in 2020 by Xcelerate Verification Agency. Devru Construction, committed to economic transformation, will continue striving to meet the requirements of the Department of Trade and Industry’s code of good procedure.
